Level 2 BSL Teaching Assistant – Gateshead

Protocol Education is working with a specialist educational setting in Gateshead that is seeking a dedicated Level 2 BSL Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September.

This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with hearing impairments and communication needs, helping them access learning and thrive within a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide classroom support using British Sign Language (BSL)
• Work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Support communication, learning and social development
• Encourage active participation and engagement in lessons
• Assist with emotional wellbeing and confidence-building activities
• Collaborate with teaching staff to support individual learning plans

Requirements:
• Level 2 BSL qualification or equivalent signing experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience working with children or young people is desirable
• Patient, supportive and adaptable approach
• Passion for helping pupils achieve their full potential
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
